Anal Gland Expression

You may notice your pet scooting or licking it’s rear. Or perhaps you have seen or smelled a foul smelling liquid. Your pet may need an anal gland expression. Anal glands are sacs on either side of your dog’s or cat’s anus which excrete liquid, most often on their own, during bowel movements. Sometimes these glands need internal or external expression by a professional. Your groomer may do an external expression, however we recommend coming into the office so our veterinary team may do an internal expression when needed.
