Travel Certificates (International and US)

Have you decided to travel with your pet within the United States or to another country? Pet travel may seem daunting, but there are ways to make the process more relaxing for your pet.  QCAH recommends a visit with Dr. Kimmel to discuss these options whether you are traveling by plane or car.

QCAH is also here to help you get the proper documentation you need to make it to your destination. When your pet accompanies you on a plane, the airline will more than likely require a Health Certificate for travel. These certificates are provided by the veterinarian after an examination of the pet within 10 days of travel. This is to ensure your pet is healthy to travel.

When traveling out of the country, including Mexico, a health certificate is required. Each country, and some states, have their own requirements and we recommend researching these requirements before making your health certificate appointment. For example, even though Hawaii is within The United States, it has many more steps involved to travel with your pet there. Visit the following website for more information regarding international travel: https://www.aphis.usda.gov/aphis/ourfocus/animalhealth/export/ct_animal_and_animal_product_export_information
